Malia is a town divided into old and new towns. The new town extends along the Beach Road and is full of shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. In the evening, the town comes alive with music from the bars and the nightclubs stay open until the early hours. The old town, behind the main road is full of narrow alleys that lead to flower covered houses traditionally built and squares where the locals chat about the days’ events. There are lots of pretty churches with colourful frescos on the walls and traditional tavernas where you can drink with the locals.
