Malia is the place to go if you are looking to party during your time on the island of Crete, with ample opportunity to have fun both during the day and late into the evening.

Situated on the north-eastern coast, Malia is a modern resort that has developed into a true highlight for those heading to Crete and whilst the nightlife is a major selling point, it’s far from the only reason you’d want to pay a visit.

For a start, there is an impressive 5km stretch of golden sand that runs alongside the resort, with six separate beaches that will cater for the differing tastes of visitors.

That includes an area that is ideal for children thanks to a kids lido, a section where watersports are the order of the day and then somewhere to simply lie back on a lounger and embrace the sunshine.

The welcoming waters off the beach are perfect for a refreshing dip in the Med, whilst along the beaches there are plenty of plenty of bars in which to grab a drink.

Along the main strip is where you’ll find the main clubs and it is here where the main action takes place each evening, with top class DJs performing during the summer months.

Away from the nightlife, Malia is home to a range of medieval churches within the old town that are worth exploring if you wish to discover more about the story of the island, with the historical capital Heraklion under an hour away.

Here, you can explore Crete through the ages and even take a trip out to some of the neighbouring islands from the harbour.
