If you want to go further afield then why not take a day trip to the unspoilt village of Masca which is hidden at the foot of the ancient Teno Massif and is easily one of the most beautiful places on the island. The journey there by car will provide the most spectacular scenery and there are a number of viewing points along the way where you can take a rest and just enjoy the incredible views. This tiny hamlet is rumoured to be where the aboriginal inhabitants of the island, the Guanche may have live, though some have suggested that it may also have been a pirate hide-out.

Once there you can visit the local museum or enjoy a glass of cactus lemonade in one of the many little restaurants. For keen walkers you can take the 3 hour hike through some of the most beautiful landscapes back down to the beach where a waiting boat will take you back to your resort.
