Arguineguin

Arguineguin is a bustling town to the south of Gran Canaria, situated in a coastal location near to Puerto Rico and Maspalomas.

Whilst the town is largely populated by locals and is a busy fishing port, it is now becoming increasingly popular with tourists following the creation of a number of new hotels.

The central location on the coast means Arguineguin is a good base from which to explore the surrounding region, with a transfer time of around an hour from the airport.

You’ll also enjoy year round sun and relatively little by the way of rain regardless of when you travel thanks to the Mediterranean climate, which is a feature across the island.

The main draw to the resort is the beaches, including one in the heart of the resort that is ideal for families.

It should be noted however that it’s a beach that features darker sands that you may experience elsewhere - not that that makes it any less appealing.

The sheltered waters off the coast are also suitable for taking a refreshing dip.

Aside from the beach, visitors to Arguineguin can enjoy a visit to one of the largest markets on the island, which is hosted on a weekly basis and is the perfect place to grab souvenirs to take home.

You could also spend time at the harbour watching the fishing boat coming in from sea or take to the water yourself to travel to nearby Puerto Rico or Puerto Mogan.

On an evening there are a number of bars and restaurants although you’ll need to head for Maspalomas or Puerto Rico if you are looking to dance until the early hours.
