With 13 bars, nine restaurants, two pools and a big waterpark in its roster, you’ll be spoilt for choice holidaying here.

The Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort & Aquagames has bagged a peaceful spot on the Dominican Republic’s eastern coast. Swapping between freshwater and saltwater’s really easy, too – a pool with a swim-up bar’s a few metres from the sand.

This place is a real winner when it comes to waterparks. The main tower’s 10 metres high and has a couple of chutes, some toboggan slides and a free fall twister. Elsewhere, young’uns have their own splash park, complete with a selection of smaller slides.

This hotel is set to impress. Firstly, the location's bang on the beach. Secondly, it’s home to a whopping waterpark that's chock-full of flumes and splash zones. Two huge pools and a swim-up bar cover peaceful tanning time. The icing on the cake's got to be the choice of bars and restaurants – with nine places to eat, and thirteen watering holes, it’s a food-and-drink lover's paradise.

POOL

The waterpark here's got slides of every colour, shape and size. The main tower's got swirling flumes twisting off in all directions, and there are purple-and-yellow racing slides nearby. A space bowl and a pirate-inspired kids' splash park complete the picture.If laidback swimming's more your bag, there's a huge swimming pool surrounded by coconut palms and sunloungers just footsteps from the beach.

  Both pools run parallel to the beach, so it's only a short stroll between the two, if you'd like a change of scenery.

  Made up of a 10 metre high tower with two water tubes, a kamikaze, two open toboggans and four lane speed slides. There's also an aqua racer and a free fall twister ride for lots of family fun.

• Pirate themed children's area

  In the waterpark there'll be a themed pirates area for children aged 4 to 11 years. You'll find 10 children's water slides and 4 splash barrels, water jets and sprinklers.

The El Bonche nightclub cranks out dance hits until the early hours.The theatre hosts a schedule of evening shows starring singers, dancers and musicians.
