Without doubt one of the most famous streets on TV, Ramsey Street is the location where the action happens in the Australian show Neighbours, which helped launched the careers of star names like Kylie Minogue, Russell Crowe, Margot Robbie and Guy Pearce.

Whilst all interior filming for the show occurs in a bespoke film studios, exterior filming takes place on Pin Oak Court in Vermont South, Melbourne, where residents allow production crews to shoot scenes in their yards and gardens.

It means that fans of the show can visit the street to see the houses where iconic characters like Helen Daniels, Madge and Harold Bishop, Karl and Susan Kennedy and Toadie Rebecchi live their lives.

You can visit the street yourself or as part of a special tour, although it should be noted that the street may be blocked off if filming is taken place.

Cheers

Running from 1982 to 1993, Cheers is regarded as one of the top American sitcoms of all time and was centred around a group of friends meeting in a bar to socialise.

The show featured famous names like Ted Danson, Kirstie Alley and Woody Harrelson in some of the lead roles and would spawn an even more successful spin-off in the shape of Frasier.

The actual bar that Cheers was based upon is to be found on Beacon Hill in the city of Boston, close to the Boston Public Garden.

Once called the Bull & Finch, the pubs has now been renamed as Cheers Boston and will be instantly recognisable to fans of the show from the outside, even if the interior bears little resemblance to the location where Sam, Carla, Norma, Ernie, Cliff and Diane would chat over drinks.

Downton Abbey has become of the most successful TV shows of recent times and has secured multiple awards around the world – including success at the Golden Globes, the Emmy Awards and the BAFTAs.

Set between 1912 and 1925, the show follows the Crawley family and the domestic servants who live on the country estate of Downton Abbey, depicting how the aristocracy lived and seeing the impact that a number of historical events – such as World War One – had on their lives.

Although based in Yorkshire, the period drama was actually filmed at Highclere Castle, close to Newbury in Berkshire. The 5,000 acre estate is home to the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon but is open to visitors at selected times of the year.

Comedy show Jeeves and Wooster also filmed shots at the castle.

Without doubt of the most famous shows in TV history, Dallas ran from 1978 to 1991 before being relaunched for three series from 2012-14.

The show was focused on the dramas that followed the Ewing family; headed by the show’s most famous character J.R – played by the late Larry Hagman.

Dallas was based around the families Southfork Ranch, which is now a conference and events centre in Parker, Texas – around 40km to the north of Dallas itself.

Daily tours are available of Southfork for fans of the show, which includes the chance to see the gun that shot J.R in arguably the biggest storyline the show ever had.

308 Negra Arroyo Lane, Breaking Bad

Running from 2008-13, Breaking Bad is already regarded by many as one of the greatest TV shows of all time.

Telling the story of teacher Walter White, who turns to a life of crime after being diagnosed with lung cancer, the show was based in New Mexico.

The lead character himself lived at 308 Negra Arroyo Lane, which can be found by paying a visit to 3828 Piermont Drive NE in Albuquerque – just don’t throw pizza on the roof as Walter himself did as the owners aren’t too keen on it.

A number of other locations from the show can be found in the vicinity, including the Octopus Car Wash – which is White’s A1 Car Wash in the show.

Mama Mia is the hit movie starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Julie Walters (amongst others) that is based on the broadway musical of the same name.

Featuring music from the Swedish pop band ABBA, the comedy tells the story of Sophie Sheridan and her desire to discover which one of three men is her father as she prepares for her wedding.

Much of the film is set on the Greek island of Skopelos including the scenes of the wedding itself in the Agios Ioannis Chapel.

The chapel sits atop a large rock and provides astonishing views of the surrounding area and is accessed from along a narrow path carved into stone, with a small beach that is popular with tourists located nearby.
