The Palma Aquarium offers an experience like no other to marvel at the magnificent creatures the deep sea has to offer. From the brightly coloured tropical fish to the enormous Sand Tiger Sharks, the mesmerising jellyfish to the rare Hawksbill Sea Turtle; this aquarium is certainly a feast for the eyes.
But that’s not all, there is also a variety of immersive experiences that everyone can enjoy! Housing one of Europe’s most spectacular 3D cinema viewings, you get the chance to encounter the gentle giants of the ocean up close and personal.
This short movie gives you the ultimate whale watching experience, with these impressive mammals seemingly swimming right up to you. However, it’s not just the digital beings you get to swim alongside. The glass bottom shark vision boat gives you a unique perspective while sailing right over The Big Blue Shark tank.
Watch as the eleven resident sharks swim right beneath your feet, it’s certainly an experience you don’t want to miss!
Another must-see attraction is the Caves of Drach in Porto Cristo. The winding path takes you through the 25-metre-deep cave providing a unique experience. This underground adventure is filled with stalactites and stalagmites, sustained in the 80% humidity and 20-degree temperatures.
The true highlight of the visit is the classical concert which takes place right on the crystal clear, blue waters of the Martel Lake. Enjoy this once in a lifetime experience as the musicians float by in a fleet of small sail boats, a concert which dates back to 1935!
If a shopping day is more to your taste, then why not hop on the bus and head to the capital of the island, Palma! The historic streets are home to local boutiques and your favourite high-street stores alike. With popular choices like Zara, Pull & Bear and even Yves Saint Laurent, you’ll be able to shop till you drop (or at least until your card declines).
Make sure you’ve got your comfy shoes on as you wander around the traditional Spanish markets filled with ambient art stalls and delicious delicatessens. The Fornet de la Soca bakery is a must visit to pick up a bite to eat while out and about.
Famed for its artisan style of baking, this local store brings once-forgotten traditional recipes back to Palma’s streets. With an array of sweet and savoury pastries and unique bread dishes you can certainly see how it has grown into such popularity.
