We’re looking out of the window with frost on the ground again this morning, which leaves us dreaming of heading for warmer climes.

With that in mind, here’s a quick look at six top options for those dreaming of some summer sun - all of which are suitable for those who are looking to travel with children in tow…

Algarve:
The Algarve is a great option for families with long, warm summers and mild winters that make it a true year-round destination.

Resorts like Albufeira, Vilamoura and Lagos are packed with family-friendly hotels that cater for all manner of different travellers - from those who are looking to enjoy a short break on a budget to those who are seeking five-star luxury with everything included.

The Algarve is known for fantastic beaches for those who want to relax in the sun, whilst there is the opportunity to explore traditional little towns and villages with cobbled streets and quirky little buildings.

Away from the beaches, waterparks like Zoomarine and Slide and Splash - which can be booked alongside a number of hotels - are great fun for children.

Canary Islands:
The Canary Islands are another top destination for families because of the combination of year-round sun, impressive beaches and a relatively short flight time from the UK.

Tenerife is arguably the most popular, with attractions like Siam Park and Loro Parque welcoming visitors from across the globe each year and resorts to the south of the island in particular being geared firmly towards the tourist industry.

Fuerteventura is slightly more relaxed but another good option for families thanks to wide selection of child-friendly as well as attractions such as the Acua Water Park in Corralejo and the Oasis Wildlife Park to the south.

Add in the likes of Gran Canaria and Lanzarote and the options for a family break in the Canaries are almost endless.

Balearic Islands:
As with the Canaries, the Balearic Islands provide year-round sun that can be accessed with ease by virtue of the short flight time from the UK.

Although islands like Ibiza may be better known for bustling nightlife and busy bars, the islands are also great for families - most notably the island of Majorca.

Here, you’ll find a number of child-friendly hotels that come complete with waterslides and splash parks whilst there is no shortage of options when it comes to hitting the beach - with impressive stretches of white sand sitting alongside clear blue waters.

Cyprus:
Cyprus might be a relatively small island but it packs a punch when it comes to family holidays - particularly if you head away from the busy nightlife scene in Ayia Napa.

Visit the resorts of Paphos and Protaras for a plentiful supply of child-friendly accommodation options that sit alongside some of the best beaches on the island - with many of the hotels including facilities that are geared towards those travelling with children.

A selection of these hotels have waterparks on site, although there are a number to be found on the island. For a less action-packed trip, there are plenty of historical attractions to be explored, such as the impressive Tomb of the Kings.

Turkey:
Turkey is becoming more and more popular for those looking for a family holiday with the children - and it isn’t hard to see why. Although flights are a little longer than to the likes of Portugal and Spain, there’s a huge amount to see and do - from stunning beaches to huge waterparks.

There is no shortage of options when it comes to accommodation, with a number of all-inclusive hotels that come complete with waterslides and various activities geared towards keeping youngsters entertained.

In fact, head for somewhere like the Land of Legends in Antalya, and you may not even need to leave your hotel given how much there is to do - with a theme park located on site.

Florida:
Family holidays don’t have to be short-haul, and if you do plan a long-haul trip instead then there are few options that can match Florida.

The reasons are pretty obvious, with the vast majority making the trip to the Sunshine State doing so in order to visit busy theme parks like Walt Disney World and Universal Studios.

Given the family-orientated nature of a Florida holiday, it’s no shock that there is plenty of child-friendly accommodation, which ranges from large villas with access to your own pool to traditional hotels on the various Disney complexes that are themed to make a trip extra special.
